Description
This wall anchor is the ideal size and type of hollow wall fixing when fitting most of our floating shelves or floating shelf brackets where the brackets will be fitted into plasterboard sheeting (drywall) in a cavity wall.(use 4-5 anchors per floating shelf) This heavy duty anchor needs to be crimped behind the wall before it is used to support a load.
This is done by tightening the screw provided with the wall anchor which then collapses and spreads (“sets”) behind the plasterboard sheet as featured here. ( A time saving special crimping tool is available if multiple anchors are being fitted)
Drill a 9-10 mm hole into the plasterboard sheet, remove the screw from the anchor body, and tap the fixing in with a hammer. Fixing must be a good secure tight fit so the fixing body does not spin when tightening the screw. Insert the screw and tighten to collapse (set, crimp) the fixing behind the wall. When fully tightened the screw is removed and the shelf bracket, is then attached with the screw into the crimped fixing(s). Note when using these fixings, weight capacity of the shelf or bracket is limited to the actual strength of the gyprock or drywall sheet. Using multiple fixings will increase the weight capacity of the shelf or shelf brackets.[block id=”floating-shelf-video”][block id=”floating-shelf-bracket-video”]
