This hollow wall anchor needs to be “set” in the wall before it is used to support a load.
This is done by tightening the screw provided with the wall anchor which then collapses and spreads (“sets”) behind the gyprock sheet as featured here.
Drill a 7mm hole in the plasterboardĀ sheet, remove the screw from the anchor body, and tap the fixing in with a hammer. Fixing must be a nice tight fit so it does not spin when tightening the screw. Insert the screw and tighten to collapse (set) the fixing behind the wall. When fully tightened the screw is removed and the shelf bracket, wall cube, etc. is then attached with the screw into the set fixing(s). Note when using these fixings, weight capacity is limited to the actual strength of the plasterboardĀ sheet. Using multiple fixings will increase the weight capacity of the shelf or shelf brackets.
